Check City has expanded its services across Utah by offering in-person ITIN number assistance at select locations, helping individuals without a Social Security Number file taxes and access important financial resources.
Check City, UT — Check City is proud to announce that several of our Utah store locations now offer in-person ITIN (Individual Taxpayer Identification Number) services. These services provide a convenient and certified way for community members to apply for or renew their ITINs.
This new service is available at select Check City locations across the state, including stores in Cottonwood Heights, Jordan Landing, Layton, Logan, Midvale, North Ogden, Orem, Provo, Salt Lake City, St. George, and West Valley City. Customers can visit these stores to meet with IRS-authorized Acceptance Agents and Certified Acceptance Agents who are trained to guide them through the application process.
An ITIN is a tax-processing number issued by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for individuals who are required to file U.S. taxes but are not eligible for a Social Security Number (SSN). ITINs are used primarily for tax reporting purposes, but they can also assist individuals in applying for credit, opening a bank account, or qualifying for certain loans.
Check City's ITIN filing service includes two options: a standard Acceptance Agent (AA) filing, which typically takes 8 to 12 weeks to process, or a Certified Acceptance Agent (CAA) filing, which typically takes 3 to 5 weeks. CAA filings also allow applicants to retain possession of their original documents during processing—a key advantage for many applicants.
To apply for or renew an ITIN, individuals must complete a W7 form and present either a valid passport or two accepted forms of identification. Acceptable documents include a U.S. or foreign driver’s license, national ID card, birth certificate, voter registration card, visa, military ID, and other official forms of identification. Medical and school records may be used for dependents under the age of 18.
Check City’s certification as an IRS Certified Acceptance Agent allows the company to offer convenient ITIN services to the communities it serves. Expanding this service reflects Check City’s ongoing commitment to supporting communities through a wide range of useful financial services.
