What are payroll checks?

Payroll checks are also known as paychecks. They are the checks you receive from your place of employment on payday.

Not everyone uses direct deposit for their paychecks and that’s ok! Instead, you can just cash your paychecks directly at a Check City Store.

What are cashier's checks?

Cashier checks are checks that are guaranteed by the bank. Normally when you pay someone with a check, the amount you write on the check isn’t taken out of your bank account until the person receiving the check decides to deposit the check.

But with a cashier's check, the bank will take the check amount out of your account immediately, so you don’t have to wait for the person receiving the check to do so. Basically, you pay the amount you want on the check to the bank, and then the bank prints out the check for you to give.

This way, when you give the check to whoever you intend, you are giving them a check from the bank, not from your own account. When they deposit the check, it will be paid by the bank, not from your account.

What are commercial checks?

Commercial checks are business checks that have been written to your business.

What are government checks?

Government checks include any kind of check given to you by the government. These can include checks for financial aid, social security checks, unemployment benefits, food stamps, and any other checks given to you by the government or government programs.

What are insurance checks?

Insurance checks given to you by your insurance company. Insurance companies give insurance checks after they agree to settle a sum of money after an insurance claim or incident.

What are money orders?

You may receive a money order when someone uses Western Union to send you money. Rather than sending money or checks through the mail, you can use Western Union to send money to someone in a safe and secure way. These kinds of money orders can be cashed out at our Check City stores.

What are tax refund checks?

After filing taxes each year some people qualify to receive a tax refund, tax rebate, or tax return for paying more in taxes over the past year than they needed to. You can get your tax refund in the form of a check in the mail and you can cash this check at Check City.

Check City also offers Tax Refund Advance Loans for customers who don't want to wait for the tax return funds.

What are personal checks?

Personal checks are checks from someone’s personal checkbook. Personal checks are a very common type of check. Usually, someone will get a checkbook full of personal checks from their bank or credit union.

What are out-of-state checks?

If your bank doesn’t exist in the state that you are in, then your personal checks from that bank may be considered out-of-state checks and may be difficult to cash in another state.
