In this post we’ll introduce the newly revamped security features that we’ve implimented in the new version of the Check City website. At Check City, keeping your information secure is something we take very seriously. We understand that trust is a major factor when you choose a financial services company to do business with and because of that trust we’re always working to stay on the cutting edge of security technology.
While the security features on the previous version of our website were sufficient, the advanced security steps we’ve implimented on the new version of the website are among the highest you’ll find in the financial services industry. we’ve made these changes to help ensure that your personal information will be safe for years to come.
To ensure the highest level of security both our new customers as well as established customers will be required to setup the following:
- Create 3 user created questions and answers.
- Choose a security image and phrase.
- Validate your Email Address.
Create 3 user created questions and answers
With the new security setting we’ve decided to allow our users to create their own security questions. We’ve allowed you to create your own security questions for a number of reasons. Over the past several years we’ve found that people are able to remember security questions they create themselves much easier than questions that they might not a good answer for. Also, with social media getting more and more popular, hackers are able to find out a lot more information about people via social media, so the common questions such as, what’s you’re mothers maiden name, what’s your youngest siblings name, etc.. simply arent as secure as they used to be. If you find yourself having trouble with creating security questions of your own go ahead and read this blog post that covers some great password question ideas.
Choose a security image and phrase.
Choosing the security image and phrase is just one more way that you can ensure your accounts security. By choosing one of the images and entering a phrase that only you would associate with that picture, it will make it almost impossible for hackers to guess what you associated with that picture. The key to this security step is to not use a common phrase, for example, if you select the clock image, you wouldn’t want to use the phrase “tic toc” because that’s something that would commonly be associated with that. Rather than using the phrase “tic toc” you could use the time you get home from work, or something else obscure that you associate with a clock.
Validate your Email Address.
The last step in the process is to confirm your email address. Once you click the “Save and Send Email Verification” button you will then need to open up your email account. Once inside your email account you’ll need to look for the email subject line that says, “Check City Member Login Added Security.” Once you’ve opened that email you’ll click on the link that says “Click here to verify your email.”

These security steps are in place to keep your account as secure as possible. The security steps are outlined in the image below.
