Published by Don M. on June 20th, 2011

Since the beginning of time, humans have been advancing how we pay, trade, and barter for items we want. The age of paper money made payments much easier than trading products for other products. Plastic money and checks have made paying for expenses even easier while also allowing us to spend money that we don’t have at the moment. And according to most mobile phone companies, the future of payment lies in phones. Today Smartphones can already be used to transfer money to other Smartphone owners, buy a Starbucks coffee, and make purchases at some approved locations. And 2011 is

April 1st is just a few days past, and as we all know, April 1st, better known as April Fool’s Day is one of the few times of the year we can get away with playing tricks on people.  Whether the prank is simple or elaborate, people are more easy-going about tricks on this day of the year than other days. The History of April Fool’s Day can be traced back to the 16th century when the calendar was reformed. When this happened, the new year moved from a week long celebration which ended on April 1 to instead, ending

CARD Act Reform: Included in your Monthly Statement Part 3

Published by Jared W on March 10th, 2010

I have written two previous sections, about what is included in your monthly statement according to new rules enacted by the Credit Card Act of 2009. This next portion that lawmakers have included, I’ll admit, is one of my favorites. It is particularly helpful to Credit Card consumers who may be confused about when exactly the companies have to receive their payments so that they, as consumers, can avoid late fees. The third thing Credit Card Companies are now required to put on the monthly statement, billed to consumers, is the date on which you will be charged a late

Published by Jared W on March 9th, 2010

Along with the many things the credit card companies are required to add to your statement, there are a few things that are still hanging in the balance, such as dropping of coverage and credit limits.  Even though the monthly statements have improved dramatically there is still much that needs to be done.  There are things that credit card companies are still not required to tell their consumers, and that could end up hurting both the consumers and the creditors in the long run, but for now here are the dirty details. Credit card companies, despite all the changes being

Published by Jared W on March 1st, 2010

For day three of the CARD Act Reform articles, we will learn about the changes that have been made and things that stayed the same when it comes to the credit card billing practices. One of the benefits to come from the changes made to the billing practices is that you are now better able to control exactly where the payments are being made. This is helpful to those consumers and customers who have different lines of interest for different lines of credit.  This way you can pay off the higher interest credit lines first along with other benefits coming

As the Credit Card Reform Act takes effect, you may discover that there are many changes to current terms and conditions.  One area that has made some changes is that of interest rates.  Much has changed about interest rates, but there are also some aspects of this act that have left things exactly the way they are.  The changes made are meant to improve and reign in the credit card companies, and their practices and policies.  The Act aims to help consumers better understand the terms and conditions of their credit card companies, what they do, and why. Interest Rates: Today

Free checking is a privilege that many Americans have taken for granted so long, that they now feel entitled to it.  Some banks started offering free checking as a privilege for their service, but now most banks offer it as a service that many people now take for granted. However, now, free checking may be becoming endangered as banks feel heat from every side. The biggest impact on checking accounts is likely to come from regulations on overdraft protection fees.  In July, banks will need permission from customers before allowing them to use their debit cards to spend more than
