Money transfers that have been sent by family members to their loved ones in Haiti have slowed down and have almost completely stopped. This is not because the Haitians do not need the money or that their family members are not sending them money, but because the Haitians are unable to receive their money. PrePaid Phone Cards Bring Hope to Haiti

Five days after the 7.0 earthquake rocked Haiti and Americans are still watching the aftermath in shock. With very few safe buildings, the people are devastated and rely on foreign aid for the necessities of life. Many families still have not been able to reach their loved ones to find out if they are alright. For many Haitian people the phone systems have not been reliable, and must purchase a prepaid phone card in order to reach their families. Earthquake Strikes Haiti

A 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti yesterday around 4:53 PM local time. The earthquake was centered 10 miles away from Port-au-Prince and is one of the the strongest earthquakes since 1770 in the area. Haiti is the second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere leaving them unprepared to cope with this disaster. About six of the nine million people who live in Haiti depend on agriculture or subsistence farming for their livelihood.
