With how expensive it is now a day to simply pay for bills and food, any little extra expense can send your budget into a high-speed nose dive; and back to school shopping isn’t exactly a “little expense” once you add up all of the clothes and school supplies. If you are reading this, it is most likely because you are a wise and thrifty shopper who seeks for any opportunity to save money; that is a very good start. Here you will find some smart little tips and tricks to help you develop your game plan when it comes to smart back-to-school shopping!
-
Make a List and Check it Twice!-Be sure to get the list provided from the school of the supplies that your children will need. This will give you a starting point, but chances are that you really don’t need everything on that list. Check with your children too and ask them what supplies from the list they think they will actually need.
-
First check the house- Before you go shopping for new things, take inventory of what you already have in the house. Go through all of the supplies that you have in the house to determine what is still good to use and what you need to buy. Also, go through all of your children’s clothes and see what still fits them and what could be handed down to other siblings. Make a list of the bare essentials that your children need and stick to the list to prevent over-spending.
-
Check the Sunday paper- Some stores will offer special sales on certain days during certain hours. Look for who has the best prices on what you are looking for and make a list of all the places that you are going to go and what you are shopping for there.
-
Don’t buy cheap where is counts- Now, this may seem like a contradiction, but think about it; if you buy cheap markers and pens that dry up in a couple of uses or break and leak all over your children’s clothes, this will cost you more money in the long run. Look for quality items that are on sale that will last!
Could you use some extra back-to-school shopping money? If you have any scrap gold in the house that is broken, unused and unwanted, you and bring it down to your local Check City where they pay you more since they deal locally; three to five times as much as other places!
