Today President Obama is donating the money awarded him through the Nobel Peace Prize to several charity organizations. The monetary award that came with his Nobel Peace Prize totaled $1.4 million.
Obama gave $750,000 to six different charities that help college students to pay for school. $250,000 will go to Fisher’s House, which offers housing to families of veterans who were wounded during war and are located in Veteran Administration hospitals. Obama will give $200,000 to the Bush-Clinton Haiti Fund which is working to raise fund to rebuild Haiti following the recent earthquake. The rest of the money will be split between various organizations.
