Jubilee of Trees

November 16, 2009 by Amelia G

First held in 1981 at a hotel convention center on St. George Boulevard, the Jubilee of Trees has become the largest showcase of custom designed Christmas trees and wreaths shown between Salt Lake City and Las Vegas. It features spectacular custom designed full-size Christmas trees, mini and table-top trees, holiday wreaths, gingerbread houses, gifts and seasonal décor.

The Jubilee of Trees also features several fun events within the showcase. Some events include a Teddy Bear Picnic for children, a fashion show, and concerts.

This year, the Jubilee of Trees is benefitting children's services by helping Life Flight helicopter services take flight at Dixie Regional Medical Center.

It will soon be time to get out the gold and silver to decorate that Christmas Tree. When you have some gold, silver, or platinum you are ready to give up for cash- remember that Check City has a Gold Buying Program.

November 3, 2009 by Amelia G

Halloween is over. Now it is time to turn our minds to… Christmas? That’s right! Tonight you can be part of a Night of Nativities held by Ten Thousand Villages.

On November 5th there will be over 90artisans featured, these handmade nativity collections will be available at 15%off.

Ten Thousand Villages, Utah is a nonprofit storewhose mission is to provide vital income to disadvantaged artisans and theirfamilies. These families live in impoverished areas of the world by marketingtheir handicrafts, telling their stories, and promoting economic justicethrough fair trade.

Many artisans report that fair trade brings themmuch more than regular work and fair pay. They begin to see hope for thefuture, earn dignity and respect in their community and experience joy in beingable to provide for their families.

The handicraft sales allow many artisan groups tosupport not only themselves and their families, but also, the communitydevelopment and education programs. Fair trade allows diverse cultures from aroundthe world to continue to create traditional handicrafts.
